The Friends of the COA was organized in 1994 as a non-profit organization in the Commonwealth of MA. The founding members recognized the need to supplement town funds and state grants in order to make growing older in Carlisle a viable option. The purpose of the Friends is “to promote the physical and emotional well-being of the Carlisle community by providing financial support for the special programs, activities and needs of the COA.”

We

• Fund blood pressure clinics with Emerson Hospital and other health & wellness programs
• Provide fuel assistance and food certificates.
• Donate to the Town’s Elderly & Disabled Fund for property tax reduction.
• Fund ongoing maintenance and repair of the COA van, the only means of transportation for some Carlisle seniors
• Purchase large print books, tapes, and age-related materials for the Gleason Library

• Support the Beacon Brass Quintet Concert
• Contribute funds for the COA luncheons and men’s breakfasts
• Finance lecture series on history, art, and music
• Support trips to historical, cultural and recreational destinations.
• Underwrite necessary medical equipment and services
