Carlisle Council on Aging
A non-profit organization dedicated to the senior citizens
of Carlisle, Massachusetts
The Friends of the COA was organized in 1994 as a non-profit organization in the Commonwealth of MA. The founding
members recognized the need to supplement town funds and state grants in order to make growing older in Carlisle
a viable option. The purpose of the Friends is “to promote the physical and emotional well-being of the Carlisle community
by providing financial support for the special programs, activities and needs of the COA.”

activities and needs of the Council on Aging

Fund blood pressure clinics with Emerson Hospital and other health & wellness programs
- Provide fuel assistance and food certificates.
- Donate to the Town’s Elderly & Disabled Fund for property tax reduction.
- Fund ongoing maintenance and repair of the COA van, the only means of transportation for some Carlisle seniors
- Purchase large print books, tapes, and age-related materials for the Gleason Library

- Support the Beacon Brass Quintet Concert
- Contribute funds for the COA luncheons and men’s breakfasts
- Finance lecture series on history, art, and music
- Support trips to historical, cultural and recreational destinations.
- Underwrite necessary medical equipment and services
