SEDS Mission Statement:
SEDS is an independent, student-based organization which promotes
the exploration and development of space. SEDS pursues this mission
by educating people about the benefits of space, by supporting a
network of interested students, by providing an opportunity for
members to develop their leadership skills, and inspiring people
through our involvement in space-related projects. SEDS believes in
a space-faring civilization and that focussing the enthusiasm of
young people is the key to our future in space.

EarthWatch:
EARTHWATCH is an international nonprofit organization which
supports scientific field research worldwide through its volunteers
and scientists working together to improve our understanding of the
planet. Earthwatch's mission is to build a sustainable world through
an active partnership between scientist and citizen. Through public
participation in field research, Earthwatch helps scientists gather
data and communicate information that will empower people and
governments to act wisely as global citizens.
The Jason Project:
The JASON Project was founded in 1989 by Dr. Robert D. Ballard following
his discovery of the wreck of the RMS Titanic. After receiving thousands
of letters from children who were excited by his discovery, Dr. Ballard
and a team of associates dedicated themselves to developing ways that
would enable teachers and students all over the world to take part in
global explorations using advanced interactive telecommunications.

Visitors are invited to send in questions to the Pathfinder team, who
respond with great enthusiasm and detail to the wide variety of
interesting queries.
The site is primarily designed for middle school
students and teachers to submit questions, but don't let that put you
off, the quality of the material is first rate. Highly recommended.

In addition to a vast database of elemental properties, PTPro has graphing and trend functions, color-coded property displays, sound functions and an element trivia quiz. The use of color-coded displays in the Trend function makes the program suitable for group instruction as well as individual study. The Graph module allows output of generated graphs to printer or disk, making the program an ideal aid for project work. PTPro is most useful when used in conjunction with worksheets prepared by the teacher. Example worksheets are available from the author by email. Runs under Windows 3.1 or Windows 95.
